Ian Winter The first time I listened to this album I couldn't do anything else until it was over. I was entranced by it. The guitar work is phenomenal. I love the subdued, mystical vocals. Extremely hard to pick a favorite track. I am in awe of this work! Favorite track: Medicated Bed.

Downtuned Magazine & Radio A great piece of heavy-psych. Probably one of the most interesting albums of 2016. Favorite track: Rule of Nines.
Clint Beed

Clint Beed Twin Earth Records once again scores another fantastic slab of molten Psychedelic Fuzz. Heavy Traffic is their newest and Plastic Surgery grooves for days. Huge Uncle Acid vibes. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Favorite track: Acid Sweater.
Fernando Benítez
Fernando Benítez thumbnail
Fernando Benítez this one's great because it's not clichéd stoner rock! It might appeal to Cathedral or Uncle Acid-heads and at the same time belong in the fuzzgarage scene that has devloped all through the 00's and the present decade, with bands like Ty Segall, Fuzz, Zig Zags, Hideous Sun Demon or Wand. Hell, even Loop, Spacemen 3, Blue Cheer or Mudhoney freaks could grab a bite or two. Heavy rockin' and way loud, yet closer to an always welcome psychedelic bliss. Favorite track: Medicated Bed.

about

"Delivering stoner/doomy riffs layered with fuzz and grit, the band's psych-influenced vocals and blunted percussion make them a driving, unadulterated display of sludgy metal that stands out from the pack."" -- The Deli NYC

"Plastic Surgery" takes its listeners on lysergic journeys through kaleidoscope soundscapes of sonic excellence populated by heavy guitar riffage and hazy psychedelic solo's that swirl and swoop over heavy and intricate rhythmic drum and bass patterns and are overlaid by gloriously hazy shoegaze-like vocal melodies. --Desert Psychlist

"Psychedelic doom clan Heavy Traffic have soaked themselves in a host of influences on their album Plastic Surgery, drawing from doom, punk and noise to create an album that ranges from retro-sounding heavy rock to noisy doom." -- Decibel

Embrace yourselves in detail in your delicious, analgesic and magnetizing radiation that will caress, shroud and park your soul in sweet and sacred inertia. One of the most hypnotic and enthralling records of 2016 is here. -- El Coyote

"The production on the record is excellent throughout with Heavy Traffic proving they're a band worth giving a damn about. Plastic Surgery is perhaps the album that Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats should have released for their last album." -- Outlaws of the Sun

"The riffs are strong and muscular with snaking patterns that the guitars deliver drenched in feedback and distortion, giving the haunted vocals a platform to sit upon. Heavy Traffic have enough technical chops to stop this from being "just" another stoner doom release - in fact if you are after an album that satisfies your heavy, musical side ... give this a go." -- Stoner Hive

"Now, Heavy Traffic has flipped the script on us. They've made Fuzz Rock that Metals. Long songs, harmonies, other worldly vocals, and fun arrangements make this record a must have on vinyl." -- Glacially Musical

"Plastic Surgery continues to amalgamate dense distorted riffs and shoegaze haziness with tracks like ‘Acid Sweater’ and ‘Three Stigmata’ as the album carries the listener on a sonic journey through nebulas, galaxies and dingy intergalactic garage parties." -- Ramzine

"Get ready for a journey full of lysergia and dynamic rhythms that will be found in the eight tracks that make up the album. Try not to be enveloped by the infectious rhythm and intoxicating mood of 'Rule of Nine', with well-featured riffs and vocals in hypnotically seductive tones." -- Doom Bringer

"One finds the fruits yielded on Plastic Surgery’s dream-fuzzed blend of heft and roll, heady jams like “See Right Through,” the oh-you-like-feedback-well-here’s-all-the-feedback “Broth Drain” and winding “Medicated Bed” finding a place where shoegaze and psychedelia meet ahead of the low-end-weighted closing title-cut and the bonus track “White and Green,” which finishes with suitable push and swirl to mark a welcome and vibe-soaked arrival for the band." -- The Obelisk

"Now here’s something special. A band that has whipped up a masterful blending of influences [...] We feature in these pages bands on either side of that equation, but few manage to breach the boundaries, as Sabbath surely did, and even fewer can blend dank, hefty, downtuned low-end with fuzzy, psychedelic dreaminess, even a little punk and shoegaze for good measure." -- Doomed and Stoned

"There’s little doubt the amalgamation of styles Heavy Traffic covers in their music will appeal to a broad spectrum of rock and metal fans alike. Plus the fact that it’s not your typical stoner metal sets it apart as well." -- Nine Circles

"Recorded on tape in early 2016, "Plastic Surgery" is the most elaborate record of the band reaching its highest creative levels recording an album of psychedelic heavy highs with marked noise trend" . -- La Habitacion 235

"Slow or faster movements talk harmoniously to each other, in the same song or track after track. The disc results in something ideal to hear with closed eyes, thus exploring the immersiveness provided in the created universe." -- Metal Na Lata

// After the playing together with the Spanish Moss (Burger records, Under the Gun) in Santa Cruz, CA, songwriter and lead guitarist, Ian Caddick, and drummer/vocalist, Tav Palumbo, went on to form Heavy Traffic. Writing and recording over five albums worth of new material together in less than two years, the duo relocated to Brooklyn in July of 2015 to put together a full band and focus on playing live.

// Plastic Surgery, the first album featuring new members David Grzedzinski and Dan Bradica, bass and drums, was recorded live to tape early March 2016 over a weekend in rural Upstate NY. Mixed and mastered over the next few months at the bands rehearsal space in Bushwick, Plastic Surgery is the groups most polished recording to date and features their characteristic blend of DIY heavy psych rock, combining elements of noise, doom, punk, and shoegaze.
